This is something I was debating with a colleague a few days ago. What do you think was the coolest automotive decade? For me, It's the 1960's. The 60's gave us brutal muscle cars, swoopy Ferraris, giant land barges (I own one) and all kinds of cool roadsters from Italy, Japan and Britain.

!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! on Driving.ca where you can vote if you want. I'm curious to see what people think is coolest decade. And for the record, my second choice for coolest decade is the 50's. What say you, Oppo?

As you say, I don't really think the sixties can be beaten, objectively speaking. A lot of my very favourite cars come from the eighties, though.

Definitely 50s and 60s. Specifically late fifties and early sixties. Amazing.

I'm a big fan of the late 80s, early 90s. could possibly stretch that into 2000s. The cars had everything you want (A/C, seat belts, an airbag perhaps), but not too much else (laser guided cruise control, quadruple zone climate control). and the styling is my favourite.

obviously many will disagree, and I love those people still.

I love land barges and love the stuff from the 60's but if I had to pick a best decade I would have to go for the 90's.

Hmm, 60s are pretty awesome, but for the sake of argument I'm going to say 80s. Sure there were some malaise holdover crap boxes, but it's also the era when things started picking up again. The decade gave us:

the ultimate analog super car (F40)

the prototypical high tech super car (959)

the Miata

tons of digital dashes

Plenty of cheap Japanese sports cars (Starion, MR2, 300ZX, etc.)

GNX

And plenty of other really awesome stuff. Going to get my hands on a badass 80s sports car someday.

Countach came from 70's even though that 25th anniversary model was made in 80's. It's probably the fastest Countach but also the ugliest.

And the Hilux is also from 70's even thought that model lasted up to '83. That's my favorite Hilux model by the way.

Re Hilux. Yeah, but it was hard to find a big picture of 4th gen Hilux which actually was the 80's car, so I just picked this one thinking "it was made in the 80's, since it was an 83 and hope noone would notice.

I don't know if they're objectively the prettiest and definitely not the fastest but it's the 80s for me. Specifically 80s European and Japanese.

2010s.

I honestly think we have the coolest cars right now.

A 650 HP Corvette that doesn't have any 'yeah, but the interior sucks' qualifications

A pair of 700 horsepower cars for $60,000ish

A car that is essentially a golf cart that can win a drag race against them

HyperCars that make nearly 1000hp, look like they are straight up space ships, and run faster than race cars on some tracks

Small cars that have 200+ horsepower and the technology to keep you alive in an accident

There's a company that makes a street legal off-road race truck, not to mention multiple companies that make street legal race cars

We will soon have cars that literally drive themselves

Even the most basic car these days has all kinds of cool tech in it, like backup cameras, lane departure assist, parking sensors, heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheels. You can get that on a Kia! A KIA!

Say what you will about modern cars lacking soul, but we live in a fantastic time for cars. When you step back and look at it on the whole it's simply mind blowing

60's. No other decade is even close.

I will go even further and say that 1967 is the best year EVER in the history of car manufacturing history.

Every manufacturer had a collectible classic either sold or made in 1967. If you stop and think of any car maker and their 1967/1968 model year there is something KILLER.
